Letter From Our Artistic Directors
Dear Friends,
We are reaching out to let you know that we miss you and are we are busy finding ways to bring you beautiful music as soon as we can safely do so.
We are thrilled to share that we are in active and enthusiastic discussions with the School of Music at Nazareth College to perform more of our concerts at the Glazer Arts Center at Nazareth College and to have interaction between our performers and their students. This venue is an amazing space with ample
parking, excellent accessibility and superior acoustics. We are also investigating outreach opportunities throughout the community, including an exciting new partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology’s Performing Arts Scholars Program. We want you to know that your safety and the safety of our wonderful musicians is our primary consideration as we consider when, where and how to offer exciting concerts as part of SCMR’s 45th anniversary season.
As we are somewhat limited in our ability to offer live concerts at this time, we are happy to announce the expansion of our YouTube channel, featuring amazing performances from our archive of concerts over SCMR’s 44-year history. Please click here to hear a duo (recorded socially distanced!) between Juliana and ESM jazz guitar faculty, Bob Sneider, of Duke Ellington’s “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.” Please also click the red SUBSCRIBE box to the bottom right of the video to subscribe to SCMR’s YouTube channel, so we are listed on the left under ‘Subscriptions’ when you next visit YouTube and you can easily view our videos.
We do have one favor to ask of you - please write to tell us your favorite piece(s) and one(s) that you think we may not know! As you know, we love to create concerts that combine well-known works with those that have been forgotten, unfairly overlooked or ignored.
Thank you for your understanding and your continued support as we get through this together. This unprecedented time has underscored the importance of live music and reinvigorated our passion and dedication to this beautiful expression of humanity.
Warmly,
Erik Behr and Juliana Athayde
Artistic Directors
